LAN, Wi-Fi or Cloud: Which Attendance Machine Connection Is Right?

USB

Data is copied to a pen drive and imported into software. Simple, and best for a single small site with occasional reporting.

TCP/IP (LAN)

The device connects to your network with a cable; software on a PC or server downloads punches automatically. The most stable option for offices and factories with network points near the entrance.

Wi-Fi

The same as LAN over a wireless link – useful where running a network cable is difficult. Strong signal at the mounting point is essential.

Cloud push (ADMS)

The device sends each punch over the internet to a cloud or web server. Ideal for multiple branches and remote HR. Works over LAN, Wi-Fi or SIM / 4G.

Recommendation

One site: LAN with desktop software. Many sites: cloud push with a web platform. Hard-to-cable entrances: Wi-Fi. Temporary or remote sites: SIM / 4G with cloud push.
